Economist Jeffrey Sachs presents evidence of possible lab origin of Covid-19. An article in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences calls for an independent investigation of information held by U.S.-based institutions that could shed light on the origins of Covid.

Also, As avian influenza spreads in birds, conspiracy theories about the disease infect the internet. ...users are questioning whether the virus is a bioweapon, suggesting it's a ploy by Bill Gates, and claiming a TV interview with a former CDC director offers proof that the disease outbreaks were planned or that the flu news was designed to scare people. None of which is true.

Have we been getting sleep all wrong? Eight hours a day is a myth. Embracing our individual sleeping patterns could be the key to a better night's rest. (Favorite observation about sleep from someone on Facebook: "Sleep is death without the commitment.")

My mother insists she's not going to make it through the end of this year, despite the fact she's in better shape than I am and her doctor describes her condition as excellent.

I took her shopping today and she bought some vitamins- a buy one, get one free deal. I pointed out that buying vitamins seemed kind of pointless based on her calculated life expectancy, and getting an extra bottle was really overshooting her self-proclaimed anticipated end date.

She was not amused.

Gubernatorial comes from the Latin gubernator, which means governor. Gubernator is derived from gubernare, which means to steer or govern.

Given the current state of the country, gubernator sounds more accurate than governor. Only it should be spelled goobernator.

The difference between Las Vegas and Atlantic City is the difference between getting conned by a beautiful call girl and getting mugged by a crack head.

The only way I'd need a pain reliever to enjoy sex is if all of my fantasies came true at the same time.
