Carrie Frances Fisher (b. October 21, 1956-December 27, 2016) was an American actress, novelist, screenwriter, and performance artist. She was best known for her portrayal of Princess Leia Organa in the original Star Wars trilogy, and reprised the character in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. She was also known for her bestselling novel Postcards from the Edge and screenplay for the film of the same name, as well as her autobiographical one-woman play and the nonfiction book Wishful Drinking based on the show. Besides her work in the Star Wars original trilogy, she had roles in films such as The Blues Brothers, Hannah and Her Sisters, The 'Burbs, When Harry Met Sally... and Shampoo.
