Alexandre Dumas (born Dumas Davy de la Pailleterie, July 24, 1802 - December 5, 1870) remains one of the most widely read French writers. Translated into nearly 100 languages, his work includes The Count of Monte Cristo, The Three Musketeers, Twenty Years After, and The Vicomte de Bragelonne: Ten Years Later.
